Rockstar has released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer, landing on 15 October 2026, just over a month before the game arrives. It follows Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and August’s Extended Look and, as the name suggests, it is the big final look before release day. Here is what Rockstar itself has confirmed alongside it.

    What the launch trailer shows

Rockstar frames the trailer around the story it has been building since the very first reveal. Jason and Lucia have always had the odds stacked against them, and when an easy score goes wrong they end up tangled in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. Rockstar sums the setting up as “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America”, with Vice City at the centre of it all.

The other headline detail is how it was made. Rockstar says the launch trailer was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5, so what you are watching is the game running in its own engine rather than a pre-rendered film. If you want a refresher on the cast and the places the trailer keeps returning to, see our Characters and Leonida map guides.

We are not going to pretend to catalogue every frame from a written description. A proper shot-by-shot breakdown needs eyes on the footage, so watch it above and keep an eye on our News page as the details are pinned down.

The music: Justice debut a new single

The trailer is set to new music from French electronic duo Justice, who composed the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI. It marks the debut of their standalone single Flower in a Hurricane, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

The track also appears on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, which Rockstar says can be pre-saved on the major streaming services or pre-ordered on vinyl and CD via the official album site. For the in-game radio line-up, Rockstar published a separate Newswire post on the radio stations.

Release date: still 19 November 2026

The date has not moved. Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI site lists 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders open, pre-order bonuses and an Ultimate Edition on offer. If you are still deciding which version to buy, our Editions & Pre-Order guide compares what each one includes.

    • An Extended Look, 27 August 2026 (26:48)

    What it means for players

With the launch trailer out, the marketing cycle is in its final stretch and the countdown is down to weeks. If you plan to play on day one, now is the time to sort out your edition and make sure your console has room. Rockstar’s site also lists the ESRB content descriptors, so this is very much a game for adults. Browse our Cars & Guns page for the rides and kit we expect to see in Leonida.

    What it means for modders

The honest answer is patience. Rockstar’s confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it has not announced a PC version. Console games do not support user mods, so there is nothing to mod until a PC release is confirmed. For context, GTA V reached consoles in 2013 and PC in 2015.

That makes any “GTA 6 mod” or “GTA 6 PC download” you see right now a red flag: at best it is fake, at worst it is malware. We call these out on our Rumours, Rated page, and we will cover modding properly the moment Rockstar confirms a PC version.
